Training children to be tomorrow’s biologists

We take pride in teaching children how to protect the environment. Making environmental issues understandable and the need to change the trend that is tied to the destruction of the world requires education at young ages. Raising children’s awareness  on their responsibilities and teaching them how to respect their environment paves the way for the existence of a clean earth.

The best way to institutionalize positive habits is to take prepatory steps from childhood, and if education about preserving the environment is taught from childhood, this belief necessitates taking care of the only habitat in which he lives. This learning should take place in a free and self-thinking manner in the context of nature, so that through direct contact with nature and touching the elements of life, namely water, soil, trees and animals, its preservation is institutionalized in the depth of children’s existence. This enjoyment of nature should start from childhood so that it has a desirable output in the future and prompts children to strive as protectors of the environment as adults.

Parents and educators are known to be the best behavioral model for children. Children look up to educators and parents in terms of using electricity responsibly, using water optimally, disposing of waste appropriately and recycling tools.

Urban life and virtual space have deterred children from interacting with the natural world and as a result, they struggle with complications such as depression and inactivity resulting in other health issues such as obesity. It therefore comes naturally that parents play a prominent part in setting a role model for protecting nature by discussing and accompanying children in open environments.

Nikoo International School strives to educate future environmentalists by revitalizing environmentally friendly behaviours at a young age.

In addition to the fact that biology is a science that studies organisms and their function and evolution at different structural levels, it seems a better understanding of biological phenomena requires a more creative outlook.

The use of different methods for the better understanding of biological materials and the use of creative methods requires a teacher who is primarily creative, able to adjust scientific subjects by improving his scientific abilities and updating them, and combine this ability with artistic education.

The teaching quality of every teacher is a reflection of their academic, physical a nd personal capabilities. The teacher must have sufficient verbal ability. The strategic, targeted and resilient use of verbal skills by the teacher greatly fascilitates learning.

Engaging students means creating a special desire to actively seek something. The use of appropriate learning methods and techniques by teachers plays an important role in student interest.

Firstly, students should be guided in a direction to gain a general understanding of key foundational biological concepts. Although most of the students have been receiving lessons in biology from a young age; But due to a lack of general understanding of the subject, they will not be able to  basic knowledge is not able to create a general picture of what they have learned, even to the extent of biological theories and theories, and the student will feel this void once he enters the university. For this reason, the student’s interest and concentration should be focused on learning and mastering the material.

Second, most of the practical projects should be focused on interdisciplinary projects that focus on biological topics. These bio-based projects keep students interested.

Thirdly, what the teacher teaches, even the basic knowledge, should be in sync with the latest developments and what we teach should be explained in general, considering the limited class hours. Because with this work, the student is guided to expand his knowledge and the result is better learning of the biology lesson.
