Recent studies show that the importance of homework depends less on its quantity and more on the quality of its design and its role in strengthening self-regulation, time management, and academic motivation. Parents also play an important role in this process. Their involvement should be supportive and structured rather than controlling, in order to preserve the student’s sense of autonomy and competence. In the digital age, managing distractions and creating an appropriate study environment has become even more essential. Overall, maintaining a balance between effective learning, mental well-being, and the development of self-regulation skills is a key factor in students’ long-term academic success.

In recent years, homework has been reexamined not only from the perspective of academic achievement, but also in relation to mental well-being, executive functioning, and academic motivation. Recent research shows that the quality of students’ homework experience is more important than its quantity.
